In 2024, Nepoh Koker, a member of Saint Mark’s, traveled to Mondema, a remote village in the Eastern Kenema District of Sierra Leone. What she witnessed there was both heartbreaking and inspiring. The Mondema United Methodist Church Primary School serves children eager to learn, yet the school building is in severe disrepair—cracked walls, broken furniture, no desks, and limited teaching resources. Still, children walk miles each day to attend, filled with hope and determination.
At the same time, the Mondema United Methodist Church, faithfully led by Pastor Peter Sellu, struggles with extreme heat. The church has only a zinc roof and no ceiling, making worship physically difficult and unsafe at times. Together, we are called to respond—supporting both education and worship space restoration so this community can thrive with dignity and joy.
Saint Mark’s is partnering in a combined mission effort to provide school supplies and church renovations, with a total goal of $27,400.
